Professional Photo Inkjet Printer Series. Pro Mark II. Anyone really figure this one out? I've got a very similar problem: Connects easily via my wireless network, communicates with the PC and it's two external HD's. Only problem is printing.

Under "IP" I've added it under "Line printer daemon - LPD" with a valid address and name where after "gathering printer info" it lists it as a "generic postscript printer" - I change it to Canon MP driver and click "add" and a window drops down for a half second saying "determining installable options Not too obvious for me. Like I described above, if the printer drivers have been installed like maybe, if not included in Leopard by default, then by connecting the printer through USB first then, when it is in range and the firewall allows access, it should show up after a few seconds.

It can print to it too. But scanning will not work - it claims not to find a connected scanner.

I ve downloaded the driver that apple has released as well the ones tha canon has released. Do you have an advice of what to do? I have the same issue. However the MPEX explorer finds the scanner if the account I am working on is an administrative account. I did even try to install with proper password in the non-admin account with the same result. It works only in an admin account. I spent a wee while on this and got it working. Thanks for the various pointers. The MP Drivers for network wernt then able to find my printer. Then, a moment later, it was listed again. Remove the USB, and its still there - add the wireless printer.
Well after hours of trying to install the Canon MP driver on her Mac book with snow leopard I finally figured it out!! I successfully had installed this driver on my MBP months ago, but couldn't remember exactly how I did it. It took me hours the first time as it doesn't work as it's supposed to.
The secret?? Go to your printer and fax settings in preferences. Make sure the printer is on 4. Select the default choice at the top of the window whether it is going to be the default or not This is the KEY!!!! Ciick add it should then come up with a dialogue and add the printer dialogue. I hope this helps save you many hours.
I wrote them about this and they sent me a canned response to delete the existing stuff and re-install, which makes no difference. It manage to do calibration but hangs while in the "Scanning" process. Printing is fine though. Canon's helpdesk advised to use a USB2. Can anyone advise if I should actually buy this new cable to try? It is possible that a USB2.

I might first try a bit of troubleshooting such as removing the printer device and all related software from your Mac, maybe create a new account on the computer, re-add the device, run software update, then see if you are able to scan NOTE you should not need to install the drivers above, and if you don't need them then I would stay away from them. If you still have trouble, try a new cable; you can always return it if it doesn't work depending on where you get it from.
Out of curiosity, what does it say when you select the printer in System Profiler hold Option and click on the apple menu. Canon Printer Drivers v3.4 for OS X
The Network Setup program on the Canon printer cd does not work with Leopard. At least during installation: And maybe this is also required for normal use, like to see the supply levels -- but I don't see those on demand anyway, though the printer does warn me when ink or paper runs out. Connect through USB, to ensure the printer driver is installed. For me, the printer showed and installed without any question. Select Printer Software. I am having this exact same problem as canoe "couldn't be loaded because it doesn't contain a version for the current architecture" with my Canon MP while trying to print a basic PDF in Preview. This could be a good generic hint how to get around the OS version check in package installers.
